Ransomes in Canada

As a result of the Ransomes page on the FensVintage website, we've been able to help a Canadian vintage enthusiast with some information regarding a Ransomes MG5/6 he currently owns. Wayne found our site whilst researching information on his tractor. Thanks to Brian Bell's excellent book, "Fifty Years of Garden Machinery", we were able to give quite a bit of detail to Wayne.

He bought the tractor from a farmer who couldn't get it running. He has put an electric fuel pump on it and uses it occasionally to push snow. Some of the pictures show it with a bulldozer blade, another with what I presume is a snow-blowing attachment. It has been stored for a few years now, and as a result, he has someone interested in buying it.

Out of these emails, came the attached series of pictures, which show some of his other interests. The Ford Model A truck with its wooden buck and simple trailer towing the Ransomes proudly flying the Union Jack flag are delightful, as are the Ford Model T and Chevrolet vintage cars. For the tractor people amongst you, the Rumely Oil-Pull and McCormick Deering tractors can also be seen at the better vintage events in the UK.

But the piece-de-resistance of this collection must surely be his "snow-plane". Based on the same principle of the airboats of the Everglades, this monster is fitted with skis and certainly looks the part on its custom built trailer. Presumably with its full cab it offers better protection from the elements than the more common open Skidoos. I just know I wouldn't want to be behind it, though.
