We missed the July Whaplode Bluebell classic car meet due to holiday, and thought the same was going to happen in August, as I was due to be down in Essex working all day, but an early start luckily made an early finish, so was able to tootle over as soon as I was home, which at least meant being parked near the gate for a change. Most of the gravel parking was given over to motorbikes and scooters and like Parson Drove a few weeks ago, anything on two wheels is in through the gate. The Paul Rackham Collection has often been talked about as a possibility for a club visit, both by the East Anglia Group of NVTEC and the Bourne Bygones Club, but it was the latter group who managed to organise a trip, complete with transport courtesy of Abacus Coaches of Corby Glen, near Bourne, in their Gold Service 28-seater coach. Perhaps the most-well known stationary engine brand, the firm of R.A. Lister was originally founded by Ashton Lister in 1867, and basically made anything required, but by 1900, the manufacture of cream separators, dairy & general agricultural equipment had established the firm.
